Baby Gift Basket Ideas and How To

Did a friend, family member or work colleague across the country have a new baby? Would you like to send them a thoughtful gift to help celebrate and welcome their new arrival to their family? Here are some ideas to help you design, make and send the perfect baby gift basket for a baby boy, baby girl or even twins.

First, you may want to decide whether you want to send a specific color themed gift based on the sex of the baby. If they had a baby girl, you may want to collect baby items with a pink theme. Also for a baby boys gift, you may like baby items in darker colors like blue, red or green.

If you don’t know the sex of the baby, you can choose a neutral theme with baby products in natural tan or beige colors. A neutral color themed gift can also be appropriate for parents who you know are eco friendly or nature lovers, as many neutral beige colored baby items are organic. Use your imagination but remember, you need to be able to gift and display your items appropriately in the container as well as be able to pack and ship it easily.

You can now start to build your items to include in your baby gift basket. It may be that you start with 1 main item and work around that. For example if you find the perfect blanket with a specific theme or color, try to work around that theme for the rest of the items. Let’s say you start with a pink blanket with butterflies on it, try to find other items with a similar theme or color – try to find baby items with butterfly designs or more pink baby items. Once you have collected your items, you will have to place them in the gift container in a decorative way. You may need to put some filler or tissue paper in the bottom so that the items can be displayed at different heights. Because the gift will be shipped across the country or to another city via mail or courier, be sure you pack the items securely.

Now you will need to wrap the gift in either a gift basket cellophane bag or tulle, depending on what you have available. Tie it up at the top and finish off with a large bow and ribbons. Do not forget to include your gift card. You can whole punch a corner of the card and attach it with ribbon on the outside of the gift with the bow. Or you can simply include your gift card inside the gift basket wrapping itself - as long as your gift recipients know whom the gift is from.

Find the appropriate sized box to ship your gift in and be sure to pack it securely with lots of filler paper, popcorn packing peanuts or air bags so that there is no shifting, moving and breakage during delivery shipping. Have your gift recipient address ready and go to your local post office or courier office to prepare the shipping label. Be sure you get tracking information on your gift as you want to be sure you know where it is at all times and be sure it gets delivered. You don’t want all of that work to get lost in the mail and have no recourse.
