The Glenrothes is an award-winning single malt Scotch whisky from the town of Rothes in Speyside, Scotlands Scotch whisky making heartland. The distillery has a storied history that dates back to 1879 that is how long it has been crafting one of the worlds finest whisky. Situated adjacent to the Burn of Rothes in the Speyside region of Scotland, The Glenrothes Distillery was founded in 1879 by James Stuart, who had previously been employed at The Macallan Distillery. The distillerys history is marred by tragedy in 1897, construction workers who were attempting to expand the capacity of the distillery started a fire that consumed much of the distillerys infrastructure and equipment. Twenty-five years later, a fire at the distillerys original warehouse caused the loss of 200,000 gallons of maturing whisky.
