Belle Glos Clark & Telephone Pinot Noir 2017
Without further ado, we say share your first glass with wild mushroom and burrata bruschettas. Your options for this stunning California Pinot are many. The seductive fruit, delicious acidity, baking spices and gorgeous texture lend themselves to many different flavors. Most obviously, we recommend thiswine with roast chicken boasting an award-winningly crispy skin. A wonderful make-ahead dish is eggplant stuffed with lamb and pine nuts. If meat isn~ton the menu, make it a green lentil curry. If pasta is on it, we say get some fresh fettucine and toss it with a chicken liver sauce. We could go on andon. The bottom line is this winery is at the intersection of Clark Avenue and Telephone road. After you drain your first glass we predict you~ll find yourselvesat the corner of Pour Me and Another... Winery: Bright ruby red with fresh, vibrant aromas of wild blackberry, raspberry jamand cedar box accented by rich floral notes. This wine is juicy and generous on the palate with sweet cherry, field-ripened strawberry, cranberry and just-bakedgingerbread. Perfectly balanced with bright acidity and a supple mouthfeel. Fine grained tannins provide an authentic textural distinction and structuraldepth. My goal with each of the Belle Glos single-vineyard Pinot Noirs is to express the genuine uniqueness of each vineyard site and to craft a true style ofCalifornia Pinot Noir that is layered, complex, fruit-forward and rich. Clark & Telephone was the very first vineyard release under the Belle Gloslabel and it continues to enchant us with its delicious, supple, and sweet ripe-fruit character we get from this particular site year-after-year. The Clark & Telephone vineyard was established in 1972. It lies on a west-facing slope just thirteen miles from the ocean in an area where weatherpatterns pull from west-to-east, bringing cool fog and coastal breezes inland. This climate makes for later-ripening, longer-hanging grapes that have adelightful fruitiness, great acidity and underlying flavor nuances that give this wine additional complexity. As a result of intensive pruning and cropthinning, the vines produce loose clusters, with small, intensely flavored berries, yielding dense, dark-berry fruit and abundant sweet brown spice characteristicsthat are synonymous with this particular clone.Belle Glos Namesake: Joe Wagner named his winery after his grandmother, Lorna Belle Glos, a co-founder of Caymus Vineyards, an inspirational figureto Joseph and an avid lover of Pinot Noir.
