Alegre Valganon Rioja Tinto 2016
We think the Aleger Valganon Rioja Tinto should be front and center at your next barbecue. Its got great, smooth tannins, rich fruit and some delicious floral notes to boot. How about sizzling beef fajitas with lots of red, orange and yellow bell peppers? The sweetness of the peppers will pair beautifully with the red fruit in the wine. Pulled pork sandwiches will work nicely too, as will pork tenderloin basted with an orange glaze. Grill up your favorite veggies to go with it and the meal will be a roaring success.ASalud winelovers!

Robert Parker, Jr.s Wine Advocate: ""The 2016 Tinto is a blend of 75 percent Tempranillo and 25 percent Garnacha, fermented with indigenous yeasts and some 15 percent of the stems in the case of Tempranillo and almost 30 percent in the case of the Garnacha. The wine matured in a combination of 225- and 500-liter oak barrels. It has the advantage of the 2016 vintage, with floral aromas and citrus freshness (it makes me think of blood orange). It has perfectly integrated oak and fine tannins and feels clean (which is how they described the character of the Tempranillo from one of the main vineyards). Its very pleasant and very good for what it is. It was bottled in March 2018. Drink 2019-2021."" Jun 2019 Antonio Gallonis Vinous:"Vivid ruby-red. Suave, mineral- and spice-accented aromas of ripe red fruits and candied flowers, along with a subtle touch of cured tobacco. Appealingly sweet and energetic in the mouth, showing seamless texture and sharply delineated raspberry, cherry and floral pastille flavors and a hint of baking spices. Finishes bright, silky and quite long, with fine-grained tannins framing the wines lingering fruit. Drink 2021-2029." Feb 2019 Winery: "This is a blend of roughly 75 percent Tempranillo from Obarenes, and 25 percent Garnacha from Cardenas. The grapes are fermented primarily in wooden vats using at least 25 percent whole bunches and given a 30+ day maceration. The wine is then aged in a mix of used French barriques and demi-muid. Once again, the blend of vivid fruit and intense mouthfeel is uncommon in wines from this era. We are not trying to make the greatest wine in Rioja. We only want to make a true winea wine that shows off our land, and all the knowledge that weve inherited from earlier generations."Bottle750ml, corkVarietal75 percent Tempranillo, 25 percent GarnachaAlcohol14.1 percent Agingused French barriques and demi-muids RegionRioja, Spain
