Are you looking for ideas for a Halloween themed gift basket for upcoming Halloween? Are you going to a Halloween party and would like to bring a gift to the party host or hostess? Would you like to simply dress up your own Halloween dinner party table, or make a beautiful Halloween themed table centerpiece?
Whatever your reason for wanting to make a Halloween Gift, I will give you a few clever ideas on making a Hallowe’en gift basket or Halloween themed decoration. The only difference between a Halloween gift basket and a Halloween decoration is that the gift basket will include small gifts or treats – even though a halloween themed centerpiece for your table could also include some chocolate or caramel treats.

The obvious ideas for Halloween gifts start with of course, a pumpkin! A pumpkin can be either a plastic or real…yes, I said a real pumpkin (I will get into that a little later). A plastic pumpkin is one of the most perfect base or container for your halloween themed gift basket. You can probably get a plastic pumpkin at a dollar store or your thrifty department store…or maybe you dig out your child’s (no longer used, of course) plastic pumpkin as a starting point.
While the classic plastic pumpkin is the most obvious and cute Halloween container for a gift basket, there are some restrictions with this. Whaaaaaat you say? I know. I don’t like to say it but…the issue with the pumpkin is the opening. Because there is usually only a small-ish sized hole at the top, it does not allow for a large visible display of all of the goodies in your gift. The presentation of a gift basket, along with the items within, is one of the major factors in making a beautiful and impressive gift or gift basket.

The beauty of gift baskets is the variability and flexibility in the bases or containers. They can really be any type of container – a wicker basket painted black or orange, a fabric storage box (usually used in closets for organization) in black or orange, or a plastic storage container in appropriate colors can be used as your base.
Although your container is very important, you should almost consider what items you intend to include in the gift basket before you choose your container so that you know that they will fit appropriately.

Putting your Halloween Gift Basket Together
So now that you have decided what you want to put into your gift basket and you have chosen an appropriate container – which will fit all of your goodies, you now can put it all together – the fun part!
Part of a gift baskets allure is the presentation, first and foremost. So..have fun with this. Halloween is the perfect occasion to have fun with a themed gift basket. You can include so many different items both for gift purposes and for decorative purposes.
Start stuffing. Well, I should not use that word as gift baskets are not meant to appear stuffed. The best and most impressive gift baskets are meant to appear full and overflowing. So, do not If you happen to have a larger container than the amount of items you have, use your – what we call – filler items to fill in the extra spaces. Filler items are the themed items which are not necessarily part of the edible, drinkable or usable gift. Fillers are as above, fall leaves, plastic creepy crawlies and spiders, raffia, hay or black witch themed items.
On a final note, for those of you who may feel overwhelmed at the idea of making a Halloween gift basket yourself, you can always choose a great gift basket company to purchase a pre-made gift.
